"D-Day" in Plattsburgh, NY for "Sportsman Anca"
This is literally a Canadian landing in good and due form that prepares this next weekend on American soil on the track of "Airborne Park Speedway." No fewer than a dozen teams from Autodrome St-Eustache and their cars from the series "Sportsman Anca" are preparing to face the drivers of the series "Limited Late Model" in what will be the first in a six series events counting towards the championship series "Sportsman Master Can-USA" that will oppose the drivers of these two series in 2012.
Last season, round-trip races were organized by the directions of the two tracks involved to "Test" if a match between the two series was possible. While the race held on the oval of St-Eustache had attracted only two American pilots in Bryan "Bucko" Branham, Chevy # 20 who finished the event with a more than respectable "Top 5" and his nephew Robin Wood, # 61 Chevy, victim of mechanical problems, the one in Plattsburgh did atract close about 10 teams from Quebec. Those two races where won, respectively, in St-Eustache, by Maxime "Max la Menace" Pelletier Chevy# 66 and in the USA by Bucko Branham Chevy# 20. at the conclusion of those races, the directors of the two series have decided to set up in 2012 this new "Sportsman Master" championship
So that's Saturday, May 12 that hostilities will begin between our two countries with a 50-lap event sponsored by J & S Steel and presented by TD Bank, with a cash prize of $ 700 at stake for the winner. Always in pecuniary, it is nothing less than $ 40,000 in prize money that will be aloud in 2012 between teams taking part in those races and in purse at the end of the season.
In order to inform its readers, Crackshaft.comcontact two of the main contenders for victory that will compete Saturday night on the track of "Airborne Park Speedway" namely, the winners of the two races that where run last year, Maxime "Max la Menace" Pelletier, the 2011 Anca Sportsman champion, and Bryan "Bucko" Branham who was the winner in Plattsburgh.
“La Menace” Pelletier says "We basicly have the same equipment as last year, but improved. The engine is new and the car has been set with a new body, our Impalla turned into a Cadillac CTS during winter" said the driver from Mascouche" I was the best of our teams last year and finished second over-all at that track ... I'm planning to improve my result and win Saturday's race. The only bug is that the car has not turned a single lap this year, but I do not worry a lot ... Practices in the afternoon should allow us to put the car back in shape ... I'l be in shape to put a hell of an attack" to conclude the one who will now drive the Cadillac CTS Big Bill / Pink Paradise # 66 for the upcoming season.
For its part, "Bucko" Branham said, "I love good competion and the guys at St-Eustache are very competitive, I found it last year. But here it's my home turf and since the early 2000s I claimed 34 victories, only Sportsman Late Model, this Saturday I'm planning to round the number to 35. In addition, we have already completed a race on our side, which is not the case for Canadians. Usually at the first race of the season, there are always bugs that shows on these cars ... they can count on us to get them out for them. I whish them good luck... cause there sure gone a need a lot " said in a humorous way one of the American crowd favorite.
